Canadian Firearm Safety Course (CFSC)

Description:

This basic firearms safety course is available to persons of all skill levels. The course is 8 hours of instruction that includes discussion, handling of firearms, and lectures based around the five most common action types of rifles and shotguns (non-restricted firearms). Students will develop skills and knowledge in the following areas: Handling and using firearms in a safe manner, social responsibilities of firearms owners, storage, display, and transportation laws for non-restricted firearms. Upon successful completion of a written and practical exam, students may apply for their Firearms License.


Saturdays 8am to 5pm. (see Registration page for specific dates)


Prerequisite:

None (Minimum 12 years of age).

  • $210 Course (Includes  written and practical exam)





Canadian Restricted Firearm Safety Course (CRFSC)


Description:

Mandatory completion of the CFSC is required before students of all skill levels can attend this 4 hour course. The basic course includes discussion, handling of firearms, and lectures based around the three most common action types of handguns (restricted firearms). Students will develop skills and knowledge in the following areas: Handling and using firearms in a safe manner, social responsibilities of firearms owners, storage, display, and transportation laws for restricted firearms. Upon successful completion of a written and practical exam, students may apply for their Firearms License.


Sundays 8am to 2pm (see Registration page for specific dates)


Prerequisite:

Successful completion of the CFSC.

Minimum 18 years of age

Cost:

  • $170 Course (Includes written and practical exam)






Ontario Hunters Education Program (OHEP)


Description:

This course is designed to work in conjunction with the CFSC in order for hunters to obtain their Firearms License and Outdoors Card. The course is 10 hours of instruction that includes discussion and lectures of various topics. Students will develop skills and knowledge in the following areas: Hunting laws and regulations, hunter responsibilities, ecosystems and wildlife management, the hunter and their role in society, and identification, biology, management and hunting of big game, small game, migratory birds, hunting, and survival equipment.


Sundays 8am to 6pm (See Registration page for specific dates)


Prerequisite:

 (Minimum 12 years of age).


Cost:

  • $180 (Includes  written and practical exam)
